If the tank is metal, no third electrode is required. It works on all conductive liquids with adjustable sensitivity from 0 to 60KΩ. When the electrodes are wet, turn the potentiometers from zero to one and at the point where the LED will light up and stop the setting. Properly covered, it will withstand a great deal of adverse conditions.
